The Cromwell Museum depends on an enthusiastic and dedicated team of volunteers for a wide range of roles. These include staffing the Museum’s main desk (Front of House), helping with the Museum shop stock, welcoming school and other group visits, events and publicity. Visitors are always grateful for our efforts to keep the Museum open here in Huntingdon.

Any support is welcome and we will appreciate your giving us as much or little time as you can. We have a shared calendar on which we fill in the shifts we can cover with regard to staffing the Museum and each shift is for 2 or 2.5 hours, depending on the time of year. On average most volunteers do two or three shifts per month.

We keep our volunteers up to date with what’s happening at the Museum with a weekly e-mail circular, a monthly meeting and a bi-monthly newsletter. The museum also has group outings and events for our volunteers. We welcome new ideas and people who would like to get involved with what is a great asset for the town of Huntingdon. We have volunteers of all different ages and backgrounds, some volunteer through a love of history, others to further their career, many simply to put back something into the community. Mostly people do it as it’s great fun!

No knowledge is necessary and all training is given on our different roles. We do ask that new volunteers complete a simple application form and provide two referees; we also reserve the right to ask volunteers who work with school groups to undergo a DBS check.
